Saints Drop Two to Open Season

Randall started strong but couldn't keep up with Sterling College in Friday's double header. In Game one, Sterling got on the board first, scoring in the bottom of the first inning and had scored 7 runs on 6 hits by the end of the 5th inning. The Saints starting pitcher Jett Sparks had flashes of success striking out 5 in 4 innings, but the Saints struggled against a Sterling starting pitcher who surrendered only 1 hit and struck out 14. The Saints finished with only 2 hits in the game 1 loss.

Game two was a better performance offensively but the Saints continued to have their woes on the mound. The Saints collected 12 hits in total. Reagan LaMance hit home run number 1 of the season and finished the weekend 3-7 with a HR and double. The co offensive MVP for the Saints was Ale Villegas who had a double in the 4th inning that drove in 3 runs and gave the Saints a 9-6 lead. He finished the weekend 3-6 at the plate. Keegan Jenderseck started on the mound for the Saints and struck out 6 over 3 innings. That lead wouldn't hold and Sterling would pile up 14 hits along with 15 walks. They took the lead for good in 5th inning of the Saints game 2 loss.

The Saints will look to bounce back when they travel to East Central University (0-4) in Ada, OK on Thursday February 8th.
