Randall University Unveils New Prestigious Award

Randall University held it's annual Athletic Awards Chapel Service and in the midst of the individual sports awards, a new award was created.  Hunter Wesberry was named the first ever Dawson Muck Athlete of the Year Award winner.  This award is the highest award offered to an athlete at Randall University.  The award is based on man different criteria including:

  • Great attitude on and off the field/court
  • Leadership
  • Sportsmanship
  • Success in the classroom

The award is named after Dawson Muck.  Dawson spent 4 years at Randall on the baseball team, before his career was cut short by an accident in right-center field 2 years ago.  Dawson was a prime example of all the qualities mentioned above and so much more.

Hunter, in winning the award, also displays all the characteristics to be the first winner. He has worked in his church.  He has been the first one on the field and last one to leave and a very hard worker.  An interesting thing about Hunter is even though he has never been an everyday starter, in his career, he has recorded an out at every position on the field.  His coach, Jared Bennett, said, "I honestly cant' think of another ahlete more deserving of this award than someone who was teammates with Dawson, represents our university not only academically, but also by being unapologetically Christian."

The Dawson Muck award was just one of many awards given out at the awards ceremony.  It's been a great year of Randall Athletics and the future is very bright.
