Randall Falls to Manhattan in Region Championship by One

MOORE, Ok. - Despite leading the majority of the Southwest Region Championship game, the Saints allowed the Thunder to make a late comeback. After Manhattan took a 2 point lead with 8 seconds remaining, Junior Adam Morales took a long 3 and was fouled in the act of shooting with 1.21 seconds left. 30 seconds after the foul, as Morales was lined up to shoot, one of the officials confronted the official who had made the call, and after 3 minutes of deliberation they controversially changed the foul to after the shot. Upon review of the video the foul was committed at the peak of the shot, and clearly should have allowed Morales to attempt 3 foul shots. Morales made the first, missed the second, and Manhattan took the Southwest Region by one point. Manhattan post Mike White was unstoppable for the Thunder, scoring 42 points. Junior Trey Sneed was incredible for the Saints, scoring a season high 37 points, and grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double. Junior Xavier Hunter contributed 21 points and 5 rebounds. Junior Isaac Bowles had 12 points and 9 rebounds off the bench. Morales scored 13 points and lead the Saints with 5 assists.

1st Half - Randall jumped out to an early lead, and other than one lead change, controlled the first half. Xavier Hunter hit a 3 to put the Saints up 49-40 at the half. Hunter scored 14 of his 21 points in the first half. Manhattan's Mike White almost single handedly kept the Thunder in the game, scoring 24 points in the first half. Bowles had a big half off the bench with 8 points and 7 rebounds.

2nd Half - The Saints offense continued to roll in the first half, but despite Randall keeping the Thunder from getting anything going outside the arc, their defense was their achilles heel in the second half. The Thunder shot over 70% from the field in the half, and seemed to get whatever they wanted. Despite the lack of defense, the Saints still held a 96-86 lead with 3:50 to go after a Sneed layup. With 1:50 to go, and the score 98-94, the Thunder lined up for a free throw, after making the first Dalton Miller missed the second, but Mike White grabbed the offensive rebound and was fouled by Isaac Bowles. Sneed was fouled with the score tied 98-98 and made 1 of 2 free throws, giving the Saints a one point lead with a minute left. After a Manhattan 3, and a free throw, the Saints found themselves down by 3 with 23 seconds to go. Adam Morales drove and found Brandon Askew on the wing and Askew drilled the 3-pointer to tie the game with 14 seconds remaining. Manhattan hit a runner with 5 seconds remaining, and the controversial final play followed, as the Thunder took the Region Championship 104-103. Trey Sneed lead the Saints scoring 23 points and grabbing 7 rebounds in the second half. Morales had a great second half, scoring 11 of his 13 points in the half, while recording 3 assists.
