Randall's Xavier Hunter Named to Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List

MOORE, Okla. - Randall is proud to announce that Senior Guard Xavier Hunter (Oklahoma City, OK/Del City High School) has been named as one of the 100 players in all of small college basketball on the Bevo Francis Award Watch List. Hunter currently leads the Saints with 18.1 ppg, while shooting 45% from the field, an incredible 46.9% from 3, and an equally impressive 93.3% from the FT line.

The Senior's season has been headlined by numerous headline-worthy performances, including scoring 39 against NCAA DII opponent Texas A&M International, and following that up the next night with 31 points in a road win against NCAA DII St. Mary's (TX). Hunter recently scored 34 on the road against Johnson University of Florida, while shooting an impressive 8-12 from 3. Hunter's game isn't all scoring, however, as he begins most games with the responsibility of guarding the opponents best perimeter player.

Small College Basketball, the presenter of this prestigious award, has this description. "The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations will be season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements.  This is an incredibly prestigious award, as this award will only be given to one player within Small College Basketball per season."

According to the Press Release, there are between 1,100 and 1,200 schools who have Men's Basketball and qualify as "small college basketball" programs, signifying just how impressive it is to even land on the initial top 100 watch list. The players are chosen from every program in NCAA DII, NCAA DIII, NAIA DI, NAIA DII, NCCAA DI, NCCAA DII, and USCAA. On February 15, the list will be cut down to 50, then a cut to 25 on March 15, followed by the announcement of the finalists on March 25, and finally the winner of the award is presented on April 2.

Randall's next game is a Southwest Region matchup at Dallas Christian College on Saturday, January 20. The next chance Saints fans have to see Hunter and the Saints play at home will be Friday, February 2, against Ozark Christian.
