Today at 11:30 AM, the Saints took on Pensacola Christian for the NCCAA DII National Championship. The Saints looked to get retaliation after getting upset last season in the tournament.
Both teams played outstanding on the defensive side the whole game. Jared Spencer had a spectacular performance after saving eight shots for the Saints. The Saints also had three shots on goal, which were all saved as well. The game went scoreless into the first overtime. Coincidentally the game remained scoreless as both defenses continued their dominance. The game then advanced into penalty kicks. The Saints got ahead early after Fraser Wittmann and Renan Lara both scored the team's first two kicks. Pedro Giordani saved one shot on the first two kicks from Pensacola, which put the Saints up 2-1. Pensacola was then able to score another goal and tie the score to 2-2. Harry Yorke then came in clutch and made the third goal for the Saints. This gave Pensacola one more kick to stay alive. Pedro Giordani then made the save and helped the Saints capture the 2020 NCCAA DII National Championship!
