The Saints Lose Hard Fought Region Final to Arlington

MOORE, Ok. - The Women's Region Championship game was a fast paced, exciting game. Unfortuantely the Saints couldn't quite overcome the Patriots and fell to Arlington 86-73. Uncharacteristic poor 3-point shooting (4-23), turnovers (23), and defensive rebounding both hurt the Saints, as they excelled in nearly every other area of the game. Randall grabbed 20 offensive rebounds, lead by Senior Julia Garrard, but they gave up 22 to Arlington. The Patriots had no answer for Garrard, as she lead the Saints with 22 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 blocks. Junior Gabbie Parsons had 15 points 9 rebounds. Junior Kajaira Mays recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

1st Quarter - The Saints had an incredible start to the first half. A Parsons 3-pointer with 6:22 remaining gave Randall a 14-4 lead. Arlington slowly fought back, taking a 24-22 lead with 1:48 remaining, and ending the quarter with a 28-23 lead over Randall. Julia Garrard dominated the 1st quarter, scoring 12 points and grabbing 5 rebounds, while also blocking 2 shots.

2nd Quarter - Instead of giving up after losing the lead late in the 1st, the Saints came out firing in the second quarter. A 9-0 run for Randall gave them a 32-28 lead after a Sadie Perry jump shot was good. Senior Caitlin White hit a 3 to make the score 35-30 with 7:55 to go. Junior Tiffani Burns gave the Saints their last lead of the game with a layup making the score 37-35 with 5:12 remaining. Arlington closed the quarter strong, and it took a late layup by Burns to make the score 51-41 at half in favor of the Patriots.

3rd Quarter - Once again the Saints opened the quarter on a run, cutting the score to 51-46 on a layup from Mays. The Patriots lead remained around 10 for the rest of the quarter, ending at 72-62. Once again Garrard dominated the game in the 3rd, scoring 8 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and blocking 2 more shots.

4th Quarter - The Saints went 4 for 4 when it came to early quarter runs. The 4th quarter started with a 6-0 run, culminating in a layup from Gabbie Parsons. With the lead cut to 4, the Saints battled to overcome the Patriots lead. Cold shooting (3-13) doomed the Saints in the 4th, as the Patriots were able to hold on for an 86-73 win.
