
Men's basketball defeated Southwestern Adventist 78-65 in the southwestern region opener. The Saints led at the break 38-36 after a back and forth physicak first half. With the hosts struggling to string together multple defensive stops. Koby Reed and Jordan Jones carried the load offensively in the first half scoring 12 and 10 points respectively.
The second half was much different as both teams struggling shooting the ball. The Saints were able to string together a few stops and go on a quick 5-0 run to strecth the lead to 7 with 7:43 left in the ball game and they never looked back.
coach Byrd on the win, "Offensively it was a struggle tonight, we were disjointed much of the game and the ball was sticking to much. When we relaxed and get the ball to the second and third side is when we began to see success. Thankfully our defense in the second has was the best it's been all year. Holding them to 29 and under 44% from the field."
Braeson Barrs-Richardson led the Saints in scoring, but jonjon Dupree-Buford was the difference maker off the bench scoring 13 pints and grabbing 7 rebounds.
The Saints hit the road to Kansas City Thursday for a game against Calavary University at 7:00pm
