Defense Shines in MBB Win

Mens Basketball locked up the 3 seed in next weeks Southwest Region Tournament next week with a 84-74 win over College of Biblical Studies.

CBS got off to a quick start jumping out to a 16 point lead half way through the first half. Thanks to their length in a matchup 2-3 zone and a 1-3-1. The Saints battled back cutting the lead to 6 by halftime. Kainan Ryan and Koby Reed knocked down 2 threes each to help the offense get going. Jonjon Dupree-Buford led the way in the first half with 9 points.

Much like Monday night the second half dominate by the Saints. Attacking the zone, and getting rhythm threes off of kick outs. Hitting a season high 15 threes on 37 attempts. The key though was getting to the foul line, shooting 19 free throws in the second half making 14 of them. Defense was key in the comback. Holding the visiting Ambassadors to 31 second half points on 40% shooting and 22% from three in the second half.

Braeson Barrs-Richardson finished with 22 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds. Jonjon Dupree-Burford stepped up in his first start of the year with 10 points and 9 rebounds in 34 minutes. Koby Reed and Blestin Miller finished with 12 points each.

The Saints return to action Saturday at 3:00pm for senior day against Arlington Baptist.
