Randall Women's Soccer Shocks NAIA D1 St. Greg's with 1-0 Victory

SHAWNEE, Ok. - Randall Women's Soccer took to the road to play NAIA D1 St. Gregory's, and shocked the Cavaliers with a 1-0 victory. Despite only having one shot on goal for the entire game the Saints took advantage of their lone opportunity. St. Gregory's took an astonishing 29 shots with 14 on goal, yet Sophomore goalkeeper Madi Harris (Moore, OK/Westmoore HS) came through every time, recording 14 saves on the game. Junior Defender Jessica Pancoast (Topeka, KS/Washburn Rural HS) scored the games only goal to give Randall the upset victory.

1st Half - St. Gregory's came out aggressive in the first half, taking 16 shots. Eight of those shots were on goal, calling on Harris to step up and keep the score 0-0. Saints Freshmen Defender Mikela Cooper (Grove, OK/Grove HS) recorded the last shot of the half that went wide of net with just over a minute to go.

2nd Half - Once again the Cavaliers couldn't solve Randall's defense and goalkeeping throughout the second half. St. Gregory's still controlled play, taking 13 shots (6 on goal) to Randall's 2 (1 on goal), but the Cavs weren't able to stop Randall's counter attack late in the half. With just under 10 minutes to play, Freshman Forward Zoe Rose (Tulsa, OK/Metro Christian Academy) drew a foul about 30 yards from net. Pancoast stepped up to take the PK and drilled it through St. Greg's goalkeeper Mallory Adams' outstretched hands for the lone goal of the game. That proved to be the only shot on goal for the Saints, but thanks to their defense and Harris' performance in net it was the only one they needed, giving Randall a 1-0 victory over St. Greg's.

The Saints (2-0-0) look to continue their undefeated start to the season at home on Saturday the 2nd, at 2:00 PM, against University of the Southwest. Come out to Randall and cheer on the Saints, or follow along with the live stats, available at rusaints.com.
